DESCRIPTION:November 13\, Thursday\, 6:30-7:45 pm\, Camden Public Library. CamdenCAN’s Camden Talks Climate series\, with Understanding Your Utility Bill\, with ME Community Power\, ME Climate Action Now\, and Others.  Curious about all the line items on your CMP bill? Are you a subscriber to community solar and can’t figure out those bills and how they fit with your CMP bill? \nCamdenCAN\, in conjunction with Maine Community Power Cooperative\, Maine Climate Action Now\, Maine Conservation Voters\, Our Power\, and A Climate to Thrive\, will host an evening session at the Camden Public Library to help you understand those utility bills. Emily Rochford\, of the Maine Community Power Cooperative\, will be assisted by others to explain those opaque charges. In addition\, there will be information on how to access financial assistance programs\, and how to engage in efforts to reform the electrical utility system in Maine. There will also be information about the latest proposed CMP rate hikes and what’s going on with the Maine PUC.   \nThe event will also be held via zoom. DESCRIPTION:Rockport Public Library\, Cleaner Greener Homes: Climate Friendly Buildings. Speakers: Andrew Frederick\, Founder\, Croft Builders; and Danny Salomon\, Habitat for Humanity\, Second Story Builders. This talk will explore local approaches to building climate-friendly housing\, as well as the state’s climate plan for sustainable buildings and housing. We’ll talk about building zero-carbon houses with low-carbon materials\, as well as “circular construction”—an alternative to traditional demolition that repurposes and reuses building materials. By highlighting these strategies\, the discussion will showcase how individuals can help expand housing while being planet-friendly.
